Acura Ignition Switch Description
If you have experienced excessive movement of the lock cylinder, lack or inefficient operation of the wipers and the radio system, no noise when the start position is engaged in the starter, there is probably something wrong with the ignition switch of your vehicle. The Acura ignition switch is an assembly that is comprised of the front part and the rear part. The front portion is a key tumbler lock mechanism while the rear portion is the electrical switch part. A small plunger is also included to detect whether the key is in the tumbler. This mechanism buzzes when a door is opened or the key is left in the ignition. Acura ignition switch is mostly operated by a key. Upon the insertion of the key in the ignition, the engine operation and starting are allowed. Otherwise, they are disabled to allow some measure of security. The ignition switch has three positions when rotated with labels varying from off to run or on and start. An additional switch may be employed, which is used to indicate the choke or prime whenever the key is pushed further inside. The ignition switch could control the operation of the engine and starter motor while the push switch could operate a priming circuit to help the engine in starting. Terminal labels on the switch are used to identify the conductors that perform varying functions. Acura ignition switch are made of three separate switches. The first one provides the battery voltage to desired destinations whenever the switch is turned.
